Welcome.
I’m Rhonda—novelist and kid wrangler.
I have been writing my entire life. I’m a storyteller by nature, a detail-oriented woman with the gift of gab. My parents tell me I was writing stories as young as four years old; whether or not they were interesting stories is a fact lost to the ravages of time.
A native Oregonian, I attended St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, known for its unique “Great Books” curriculum. While there, I learned more about Catholicism and entered the church in 2004. More recently, I made my final profession as a Lay (Third Order) Dominican.
My husband and I met and married soon after college. We then moved to Washington, D.C., where I worked as a middle school math teacher while he pursued his graduate studies in theology. In 2010 we sojourned back to Oregon. Following the birth of our eldest, I began writing fiction while concurrently pursuing a nonfiction writing career. A few years later, we followed my husband’s job to Michigan. Five more babies and several cold winters later, we’re still here.
Topics in my wheelhouse: fiction, writing craft, history, literature, spiritual life, conversion, ecumenism, mental illness, religious scrupulosity, autism, graphic design, homemaking, and family life. Also: haphazard backyard gardening, mediocre knitting, forgotten foreign languages, and occasional jogs around the block.
I’m more small town than city.
I think puns are punny.
I’d sing more often, but my kids always beg me to stop.
Ever listen to the Hillbilly Thomists?
Protestant Americana welcomed into the Catholic fold and embraced by Dominicans. Me in a nutshell.
Glad you’re here.
